Born in Tokyo, Japan 6/7/1952.
Started playing Drums since college days in Aoyama-Gakuin University.
Learned from Elvin Jones, Motohiko Hino,
Billy Hart, Jimmy Smith, Alan Dawson etc..
Joined with bassist Yoshio Ikeda’s band in 1973, until ‘79.
From then until ’81, played many
groups in Tokyo.
From ’81 joined Eiji Kitamura’s band,
until ’98.
Played at several Jazz Festivals incl. Monterey
Jazz Festival ( ’89 & ’91~ ’94 ), Mt, Hood Jazz Festival.( ’91),
LA Jazz Party
(’92~ ’95 ) Sweet & Hot
Music Festival in LA ( ’99 Yoshio Toyama’ s Band ) etc..
Played with many giant jazz players, incl. Teddy Wilson, Marshall Royal,
Hank Jones, Buddy
De Franco, Wild Bill Davison, Carl Fontana, Ralph Sutton, Nat Pierce, Bill Berry, Steve Jordan, Scott Hamilton, Andy Simpkins and John Clayton etc..
Joined in two albums with Teddy Wilson in Japan.
Also joined with many recordings of
Japanese artists.
